Siyo nigada (Hello all),
Our mission is to uphold and nurture the historical values of Cherokee citizens living in North Texas, beyond the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation.
As a non-political, tax-exempt, nonprofit Native American organization incorporated in the State of Texas and officially recognized as an At-Large community by the Cherokee Nation, CCNT is dedicated to fostering fellowship among local Cherokee citizens and members of other tribes across North Texas. Our community spans from Lubbock in the west to Longview in the east and Denton in the north. We are dedicated to preserving and teaching the Cherokee language, history, and culture to ensure their legacy endures for future generations. We will prepare our children and grandchildren to appreciate the sacrifices of our ancestors, respect their many hardships, and pass on our history, language, and culture to ensure it is not forgotten. We strive to remain informed about the challenges facing modern Cherokee citizens and to assist the Cherokee Nation in addressing these issues effectively. As a liaison for the Cherokee Nation, we are committed to sharing vital information and fostering meaningful connections. By collaborating with partner organizations, we work to advance the well-being of the North Texas Cherokee community and the Cherokee Nation as a whole. We aim to provide Cherokee citizens in North Texas with a supportive network to navigate life’s journey, while prioritizing the health and wellness of all CCNT members. Our goal is to strengthen members’ connections with CCNT, with one another, and with the Cherokee Nation, fostering a vibrant and engaged community.
